Do you use your pantry to store all sorts of food items? You might want to rethink that habit. Why? Certain foods actually go bad faster when you place them in this room or in cabinets. Didn’t know that? Check out the list and be amazed by some of the surprising examples.

Three things you should (really) never store in your pantry:
- Nuts and seeds. They are more likely “to grow bacteria” when “stored in a warm pantry,” explains Jen Brown, a chef, as quoted by BestLife;
- Bread. “It doesn’t last as long in the pantry and can end up drying out. Plus, “in warmer pantries, bread can start to grow mold,” says Jesse Feder, a registered dietitian;
- Wine. The “wine’s flavor can start to change with the temperature fluctuations of a pantry,” she adds. “It should be stored in a cool, dark place with consistent temperature control.”
