Desporto Taça Libertadores

Abel Ferreira and Artur Jorge had, in the early hours of Wednesday to Thursday, plenty of reasons to smile, since they led Palmeiras and Botafogo, respectively, to victory, in the third round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores.

Palmeiras visited and defeated Independiente del Valle, by 2-3, in a 'heart-stopping' match, in which they were losing... until the 81st minute, when Lázaro restored equality to the scoreboard. The goal that 'tipped the balance' came in stoppage time, through Luis Guilherme.

Botafogo, on the other hand, had a much easier life, since they received and beat Universitario, by 3-1, thanks to two goals by Carlos Eduardo, a former FC Porto and Estoril player, as well as by Luiz Henrique, with the 'timid' response coming near the end, by Christopher Olivares.

With this result, Palmeiras now has seven points, which leaves them in the isolated leadership of Group F, with a three-point advantage over Independiente del Valle and Liverpool Montevideo, and six over San Lorenzo.

Botafogo, on the other hand, remains in last position in Group D, with three points, two less than the leader, Junior Barranquilla, and one less than the second and third placed, LDU Quito and Universitario, respectively.
