Your diet can affect the way your hair looks and feels. In some cases, there are foods that can make your hair weaker and more likely to fall out. Processed foods are something to be wary of.

Website SheFinds spoke to hair transplant surgeon Dr Yoram Harth, hair experts Ghanima Abdullah and Amr Salem, and Harley Street Hair Transplant Clinics' Ghanima Abdullah about what you should avoid eating too much of.

1- Red meat

"Try to cut down on the amount of red meat and fried food in your diet," explains Dr Yoram Harth.

2- Refined carbohydrates

"Eating refined carbohydrates in excess can hinder hair growth in several ways."

3- Sugary treats

"Sugary treats with preservatives, artificial flavours and food colouring increase free radicals in the scalp," continues Ghanima Abdullah.

4- Seed oils

"In excess, they can cause inflammation throughout the body, including in the hair follicles."

5- French fries

"When it comes to hair loss, the best thing to do is to avoid foods that are high in sugar and salt," says Amr Salem.

6- White bread

"Foods like white bread, pasta and rice are high on the glycemic index, which can cause inflammation and lead to hair loss," says Ghanima Abdullah.
