Xavi Hernández explains why he backtracked and decided to stay at Barcelona

Xavi Hernández announced, this Thursday, that he will, after all, continue to lead Barcelona, a few months after he had publicly announced that he would be leaving the Blaugrana club at the end of the season. In a press conference, alongside Joan Laporta and Deco, the president and sporting director, the coach of the Catalans explained why he changed his mind.

"I am very much Barcelona. I am a man of the club and the most important thing is to think about the entity. I met with the president yesterday and put my position at his disposal. But I felt great confidence from the president and the entire board of directors," began by explaining Xavi, quoted by Mundo Deportivo, continuing.

"The complicity of the players was very important, who made me see that this project had to continue. We are working well and it is a winning project. The fans also made me see that I should continue. I feel strong and capable. I am only thinking about what is best for the club. In January I thought it would be best to leave, but now I see things differently. I am very grateful. I think it is the best decision," concluded the Barcelona coach, who has a contract until 2025.
