Now it's official: "Xavi will continue as Barcelona coach"

Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed this Thursday, at a press conference, that Xavi Hernández will remain in charge of the main team, months after he made public his intention to leave the club at the end of the season.
"We are pleased to announce that Xavi will continue as coach of the main team. We know that he made some statements halfway through the season, but today we have the good news that we have been talking and he has conveyed to me the ambition and confidence he has in this project", he began by stating.
"Some changes will be made to improve. Since we saw each other yesterday, it was clear to us that this was good news. Stability is a maxim in successful projects, especially in this one. Xavi is an undisputed Barcelonista", he continued.
"The team we have, which is consolidating, with very young people, needs this stability. Xavi is a reference for the young people. Today, I am especially satisfied. The board, unanimously, supported this decision", he added.
The former Spanish international is thus preparing to leave for what will be the last year of his contract with the Blaugrana emblem, which he represented as a player for almost his entire career.
In the last three seasons, the 44-year-old coach has won a La Liga title and a Spanish Super Cup. This season, he has not been so lucky, as he has already been eliminated from all competitions, and in the league, he is second, nine points behind Real Madrid.
