After drawing 0-0 at home to ASEC Mimosas in the first leg of the quarter-finals, the current Tunisian runners-up, who have already won the trophy in 1994, 2011, 2018 and 2018/19, repeated the goalless draw after 90 minutes in the reunion with the Ivorians, before overcoming them in the penalty shootout (4-2).

Two-time Angolan champions Petro de Luanda had a different outcome, after a 0-0 draw away to Mazembe, they lost at home to the Congolese (1-2).

Honduran Jonathan Toro, former forward for Gil Vicente, Varzim, Académica, Tondela, Desportivo de Chaves and Académico de Viseu, put the Luanda team ahead in the 29th minute, but Phillippe Kinzumbi (82) and Joel Beya (90+6) turned the score around.

The semi-finals of the African Champions League will see Espérance de Tunis face South Africans Mamelodi Sundowns and Mazembe face Egyptians Al-Ahly, the trophy holders and record winners, with 11 titles, with the first leg scheduled for 19 and 20 April, while the second leg will take place a week later, between the 26th and 27th.
