Bars, particularly granola ones, have become a popular go-to snack. Why? Many assume they're a healthy and filling option, but in reality, they're not as wholesome as they seem. Jenna Rizzo, a registered dietitian and fitness coach, told BestLife everything you need to know. 

According to the expert, most granola bars that line supermarket shelves are packed with calories and added sugars. In turn, "they don't do much for you except spike your blood sugar, which will then crash and leave you craving more food," she added. This makes it difficult to manage your weight. 

With that in mind, she advises that when buying a bar, you should always read the nutritional information carefully and opt for ones that are high in protein and low in—or free from—added sugars.
