Do nuts make you fat? Nutritionist dispels the myth
It depends a lot on the amount you consume, of course, but there are also other reasons to realize that they are quite beneficial.

You may have heard both versions, that nuts are beneficial to health as they can make you fat. Nutritionist Marián García, better known as Boticaria García, debunks this myth in the newspaper El Mundo.
She starts by giving some reasons why nuts are not as fattening as you think.

They have great satiating capacity
"If you eat nuts, you may end up eating less unhealthy foods."
They are high in fiber
"In addition to improving satiety, they form a gel in the intestine that makes it difficult and slows down the absorption of other nutrients, such as sugar."
Digestion requires more calories
"The body invests more energy when it ingests nuts than muffins, for example."
Still, what is the dose you should eat every day? Marián García clarifies that you should opt for a portion between 20 to 30 grams. "This is equivalent to a handful, enough to close your hand. It is approximately 15 to 20 small units, such as hazelnuts and almonds, or five larger ones, such as walnuts."
