If you still haven't managed to lose those extra pounds, this could be your chance. There are some foods that, as nutritionist Michelle Routhenstein tells the Daily Mail, mimic the effects of Ozempic, a semaglutide-based drug (active ingredient that mimics GLP-1 molecule receptors), indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but which is often used for weight loss.

According to Routhenstein, foods rich in protein, fiber and water trigger the release of GLP-1, the same effect caused by Ozempic. She also mentioned that some food combinations provide a greater feeling of satiety, with fewer calories.

The nutritionist starts by suggesting the consumption of lentils, due to their richness in soluble fibers that increase the secretion of GLP-1 in the intestine, but on a smaller scale compared to Ozempic.

The apple, in turn, is a fruit with few calories, rich in fiber and water, which helps regulate blood sugar levels. However, despite being a healthy option, it should be combined with other foods to provide a greater feeling of satiety.

Michelle Routhenstein also recommends the consumption of broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber, these foods are low in calories. On the other hand, they are quite satiating.

Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt are also a good bet, due to their low fat content and richness in protein, which increases digestion time and, consequently, satiety.

Similarly, fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids are also allies in a weight loss process. The same goes for eggs, as found in a study from 2020, which revealed that consuming this food for breakfast reduces hunger throughout the day.
