Liverpool are in the market for a new manager following the announcement that Jurgen Klopp will leave at the end of the season, but the identity of his successor remains far from clear.

The latest reports have linked the Reds with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot, who Gary Neville believes has good qualities but questioned the constant change of direction from a club who have also been linked with Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim.

"He's a successful coach, in Holland. I love Dutch coaches. There's a great method of coaching that's coming back through some of the great coaches in the game. Obviously it's a big jump from the Eredivisie to the Premier League," he said.

"It's a very different style to Jurgen Klopp, but I don't think you could ever replace a character, a personality, a force like Klopp. It's interesting. It's obviously something that Michael Edwards has gone for," he added on Sky Sports.

"We don't know what's going on. The reality is we've seen at Arsenal, post-Arsene Wenger has been difficult. Post-Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United has been difficult. Klopp is huge for Liverpool. First we thought it was going to be Xabi Alonso, then it was going to be Ruben Amorim. Now it's Arne Slot."
