Liga Portugal reinforces the fight against pyrotechnics with new regulations
The Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) today approved new regulations for the prevention of violence, including cases of the setting off of fireworks and the throwing of objects, which, from now on, may lead to the interruption of games.

The measure, voted by the majority of clubs that today participated in the General Assembly of the organization, in Porto, is incorporated into the prevention and combat program against violence associated with sports events and, according to the LPFP, aims to guarantee "an immediate and effective response against incorrect behavior".
"Just as we already had regulations for the issues of violence and racism, we now also have this issue of pyrotechnics and the throwing of objects. Among the measures, a mechanism for stopping the game is included, which will only be resumed when the conditions are met", explained Helena Pires, executive director of the LPFP.
Still on the issue of violence, the manager was asked about the incidents in the game between Desportivo de Chaves and Estoril Praia, on Sunday, on matchday 30 of the I Liga, in which there was an invasion of the pitch by supporters of the Flavienses and aggression between players and supporters.
"We all have to reflect on what happened in that game. On our part, we are doing this reflection internally. It is something that jeopardizes the image of our competition and we cannot let that happen", said the director.
Helena Pires therefore made an "appeal for serenity" for the last rounds of the professional competitions.
"Our championship is very competitive, we are in the last rounds, and we have all the conditions for everything to end well. I hope that there will be serenity until the end of the season", concluded Helena Pires.
