Álvaro Pacheco wants Vitória SC to be more daring to win at Dragão

Vitória de Guimarães wants to be bolder and more ambitious in order to go and win on FC Porto's pitch, on Sunday, on the 28th round of the I Football League, its coach, Álvaro Pacheco, stressed today.

Vitorianos and Portistas faced each other on Wednesday, for the Portuguese Cup, with the 'dragons' gaining an advantage for the second leg of the semi-finals with the 1-0 triumph achieved at the D. Afonso Henriques Stadium.

The coach stressed that the goal is to go and win at Dragão, now in the championship, hoping that his team will be more "audacious, courageous and ambitious" in relation to the Cup game, especially "with the ball", without "fear", knowing that in the Portista venue "all teams go through difficult times".

"We want to have the decision-making capacity and discernment in the last third to do what the team normally does, which is to create goal opportunities because we want to win the three points", he said, at the press conference previewing the match.

For Álvaro Pacheco, the fact that FC Porto is playing at home and, predictably, will take on more of the game will give Vitória de Guimarães more space to exploit the counterattack, making it more tailored to his team.

"I think so. FC Porto here [on Wednesday] always took our game away from us, our strongest point and where we feel most comfortable. The game had many breaks, it was very slow, with many fouls, and I believe that tomorrow [on Sunday] it won't be", he said.

The coach therefore expects "a much more emotional and beautiful game to watch between two teams that will want to win: we want to reach 56 points as quickly as possible and FC Porto does not want to give up the opportunity to get closer to the teams that are ahead of them", he said.

Bruno Varela returned to the Vitorian goal in the Cup, after two months of absence due to injury, and was linked to the only goal of the match with an unfortunate approach to Pepe's header.

Álvaro Pacheco downplayed the situation -- "the added value and importance of our captain is unequivocal" and "the players have to know how to deal with mistakes" -- and did not want to reveal which goalkeeper he will choose, although he said he already knows who it is.

Jota Silva has been the team's main figure and their top scorer in the championship.

The coach noted that there are other players who have stood out, but stressed the "beautiful story" of the forward: "four or five years ago he was in the district and now he is in the national team", an example for all young people and for those who love football, he stressed.

Vitória de Guimarães, fifth classified with 53 points, and FC Porto, third with 58, will face each other on Sunday, starting at 8:30 pm, at Estádio do Dragão, in Porto, in a game that will be refereed by Fábio Veríssimo, from the Leiria association.
