Rui Pedroto looks with concern at the renewal of Sérgio Conceição
Rui Pedroto, candidate to vice-president of FC Porto from list B, led by André Villas-Boas, criticized today the renewal of the football team's coach, Sérgio Conceição, because of its proximity to the end of Pinto da Costa's term.

According to the person chosen by André Villas-Boas for the area of social projects, the renewal of the 'blue and white' coach until 2028, made official on Thursday, constitutes an obstacle to the management capacity of the board that wins today's elections.
"We look with concern at all the acts of management that were taken in the pre-electoral period. Imagine what the government of the outgoing management would be like, which we witnessed very recently in our public and political life, rushing to legislate in order to compromise the management capacity of the next government. We think it is ethically reprehensible", condemned Rui Pedroto.
The son of the late José Maria Pedroto, a historic player and coach of FC Porto, projected what his father's vision would be for the electoral act, taking into account the high turnout at the polls - according to the official figures of the 'blue and white' emblem, up to 12:00, 6,901 members had already voted.
"I would be very happy to know that his beloved FC Porto has become today what is a great club, a brand identity of the city, the region and the country. He laid the foundations for what FC Porto is today, so it would certainly be with great joy that he would witness this enormous example of vitality and dynamism of the club", he said, emotionally.
Rui Pedroto once again expressed his belief in the victory of his list for the club's social bodies.
"We have always been confident because our confidence rests on the strength of our convictions. As in any electoral act, it is up to the Porto supporters to have been aware of our program, to form their opinion and to decide in conscience what they think is best for the future of FC Porto", he reiterated.
The elections for the social bodies of FC Porto for the four-year period 2024-2028 are being contested by three candidacies, led by Pinto da Costa (list A), André Villas-Boas (B), former coach of the football team, and Nuno Lobo (C), businessman and teacher, also including an independent list for the Superior Council led by Miguel Brás da Cunha (D).
The electoral act will take place until 8:00 pm today, at the Estádio do Dragão, in Porto, at a time when Pinto da Costa is serving his 15th consecutive term, since 1982, and holds the status of the leader with the most titles and longevity in world football.
