Pinto da Costa participated, on Tuesday night, in the commemorative dinner for the 42 years of FC Porto's presidency, this Tuesday, at the Casino de Espinho. In statements to those present, the Porto leader once again said that a 25th of April is needed in football.

"The 25th of April is missing in football. Because football, the 25th of April, was made to give freedom, to give freedom of expression. In football, one thing is to insult people, which is no longer freedom, it is going against people's freedom. Now, in football, giving an opinion or showing disagreement against concrete facts is punishable, I repeat, the 25th of April is missing in football", said Pinto da Costa, quoted by the newspaper O Jogo, stressing that the punishments are attempts at conditioning.

"Of course. For example, in Estoril I said that the VAR should not have intervened, that the referee had been wrong, and then a process came for having said that, and a few days later the Arbitration Council came to say that the VAR should not have intervened. So, naturally, they will also file a lawsuit against the Arbitration Council. Therefore, I repeat, the 25th of April is missing in Portuguese football", he continued.

"For FC Porto, every day is important. Every day we have to work, every day there are problems to solve, every day, almost every day there are games of any kind and we always want to win. Therefore, for me every day is important", concluded Pinto da Costa.
