Liverpool's alleged interest in Ruben Amorim as a successor to Jurgen Klopp was the subject of discussion on Wednesday's edition of the 'The Rest is Football' podcast, featuring Micah Richards, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, three former England internationals.

Micah Richards, the former Manchester City defender, was full of praise for the Sporting boss, suggesting that "the way he plays, tactically, would be good" for the team of Portugal international Diogo Jota. However, he pointed out that Amorim is still relatively inexperienced at the highest level.

"I read a quote from him where he basically said that the rumours about him going to Liverpool were not true, and that he wanted everyone to stop talking about it. I saw that yesterday," the now-pundit began.

"But in terms of whether he'd be good for Liverpool... Absolutely. He's very intelligent, he plays attacking football, and he's also developed as a coach because he was at Braga as well, and he did well there," he continued.

"Could he do it in the Premier League, straight away? That would be the question mark that I would have. I've heard Liverpool fans saying that they would like him, that they like the way he plays, but you never know," he concluded.
