Pinto da Costa gave an interview to Rádio Renascença, published in full this Wednesday, to give an account not only of FC Porto's current accounts between the Europa League and the Champions League (still depending on how their rivals Benfica will end the season), but also of his position in relation to the non-renewal with Sérgio Conceição, with criticism of André Villas-Boas in the middle.

"I didn't renew before [with Sérgio Conceição] and the other candidacy [by André Villas-Boas] says they don't understand, but it's easy to understand. From the moment there are elections and it's not known who the president will be, Sérgio Conceição would never renew without knowing who he would work with. That's obvious. Will he continue to be the coach? I'm convinced that he will, I hope and I'm convinced that he will. And not only in the next one," he began by saying.

"I see a coach who is my friend, who is with me and who I'm sure will continue with me. Now, I don't want him involved in the elections. And I think it's a great irresponsibility, because the choice of the coach is the main decision," he stressed, followed by a new attack on the candidacy of the former coach of the Dragons.

"I find it extraordinary that the other candidacies don't have a coach yet. The candidate Villas-Boas, just a few days ago, said that he hadn't spoken to any coach, that he's waiting to be elected to sit down with Sérgio Conceição. I think this is irresponsible," he added.

It should be recalled that FC Porto's presidential elections are scheduled for April 27, where Pinto da Costa (in office for 42 years) will have the competition of André Villas-Boas and Nuno Lobo for the status of maximum leader of the blue and whites.
