Al Hilal, the team coached by Jorge Jesus, has been reinforcing, week after week, the world record for consecutive victories. All in all, there are already 34 in a row, which 'shot down' the previous maximum record of 27, belonging to The New Saints, from Wales.

However, there are those who claim the feat achieved by the Portuguese coach. This is the case of Arkadag FC, a club founded in Turkmenistan, in 2023, by the president himself, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, bringing together the best players in the country, such as Arslanmyrat Amanow or Altymyrat Annadurdyyew.

In the first season, the newly created emblem was crowned national champion, with 72 points won out of a possible 72. Since then, he has not taken his 'foot off the gas', so, all in all, he has won 37 consecutive games.

So why is this record not officially recognized? In statements made to Tuesday's edition of the newspaper The Guardian, a spokesperson for the Guinness Book of Records justified the decision to ignore it.

"There is relatively little detail available about the Turkmenistan league, less than we would like to carry out the due diligence required for our research into this and similar records," he said.

"This can also be an indicator of a level of governance and competition that we would normally look for. Taking all of this into account, we have confirmed Al Hilal as the record holder," he added.
