Users cannot access the rsf.org website in Russian territory, local media confirmed.

"Access to the website is restricted", said the RKN service, which provides information on website access restrictions in Russia, the Spanish news agency EFE reported.

Roskomnadzor, which has restricted access to numerous Western sites in the past two years, did not specify the reason for its decision.

Russia has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting its journalists, following the death on Friday of Russian Izvestia war correspondent Semyon Yeremin while reporting in the Ukrainian region of Zaporizhzhia.

"As for the fact that the Ukrainian military is deliberately targeting Russian journalists, that's true," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the television station.

Yeremin, who filed his last report on Wednesday, died from injuries sustained in a Ukrainian drone strike.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called it "a bloody crime" by the regime of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"We regard this cold-blooded murder of a journalist as yet another confirmation of the ugly terrorist nature of the Zelensky regime," Zakharova was quoted as saying on the Izvestia website.

Zakharova accused Kyiv of having launched "a real hunt for representatives of the Russian media, military officers and public figures who, with their reports, comments and publications, reveal the truth to the world community".

In July 2023, Rostislav Zhuravliov, a war correspondent for the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti, was also killed in Zaporizhzhia when the car he was travelling in was hit.

Three other Russian reporters were injured in the attack, which occurred as they were travelling between the town of Vasilyevka and the village of Vladimirivka.
