Tehran, Apr 19, 2024 (Lusa) -- Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Wednesday accused media outlets linked to the "Zionist regime" of trying to magnify an Israeli attack on the city of Isfahan in order to claim a victory for Israel.

"The media supporting the Zionist regime have tried, in a desperate attempt, to extract a victory from their repeated defeats and magnify this issue," Amir-Abdollahian said.
The minister stressed that the Israeli "mini-drones" caused almost no damage.
The Iranian foreign minister was speaking at the end of a meeting in New York with ambassadors from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.
According to US media, Israel launched several missiles against the Iranian province of Isfahan in the early hours of Wednesday.
However, Iran denied the attack: first, it said that the air defense had shot down several drones and, later, that there had been "several flying objects" in Isfahan, where the country's nuclear facilities are located.
Meanwhile, anonymous sources cited by the Jerusalem Post newspaper said that today's attack should be interpreted as a warning to Tehran about Israel's offensive capabilities and as a sign that Israel does not want a regional war.
"The message [of the attack] is unequivocal: 'This time, we decided not to attack your nuclear facilities, but it could have been worse,'" the Israeli newspaper sources said.
The Israeli offensive is a response to last Saturday's Iranian attack on Israel, with some 300 missiles and drones, 99% of which were intercepted by the country's air defense, according to Israeli authorities.
