Liverpool were defeated this Wednesday in the long-awaited Merseyside derby of the 29th round of the Premier League, by Everton, 2-0, in a game that may have removed them, once and for all, from the race for the English title.

After the final whistle, the captain of the Reds, Virgil van Dijk, regretted the result and pointed the finger at the Premier League for scheduling the visit to West Ham for 12:30 pm (Continental Portugal time) next Saturday. Words that left former England international Wayne Rooney perplexed.

"He is the captain and is talking about Liverpool being beat, but we are hearing again about the 12.30 kick-offs after they have lost a derby," he began by stating, in statements made on the British television station Sky Sports.

"That Liverpool team should want to get back on the pitch tomorrow morning and play the next game. When you lose a game, especially a derby game, you want the next game to come quickly," he continued.

"We hear so much from Liverpool about the 12.30 kick-offs... Get on with it! It is part of your job! Get on with it, you should be ready to play," completed the former Manchester United forward.
