Rui Costa criticizes conflicts in Faro: "The limits have been exceeded"
Benfica's President takes responsibility for the less successful season.

Rui Costa, president of Benfica, reacted on Tuesday night to the conflicts that took place last night in Faro, after the incarnate victory by 3-1. The leader of the Luz club criticized the supporters' stance and stressed that limits were exceeded.
"I understand and perfectly perceive the sadness and frustration of the supporters at this stage of the championship in a year in which we aspired to achieve more than we have achieved so far. I perfectly understand the sadness, which is the same sadness that I, the technical team and the players have. We all wanted much more. None of us are immune to criticism when things do not go as we expect. I am talking about everyone who works at the club, all the professionals. We have to respect and accept criticism, and I believe that, for the second time this season, now in Faro, we have exceeded these limits", said Rui Costa, in statements to BTV, in an allusion to the episodes of the match between Benfica and Farense in the first round of the championship.
Still with four rounds to go until the end of the I League, Rui Costa guarantees that he will not throw in the towel, but admits that reaching the title is "complicated".
"I make this appeal. There are 4 rounds to go, I will be here at the end of it to assume all responsibilities as I do every year. At Benfica, it is mandatory to do the 4 rounds with the utmost dignity. That is what I ask of the professionals and the team, as it was in Faro. We all have to be prepared for these 4 rounds, looking for the best we can do, not throwing in the towel while it is mathematically possible, not being hypocritical and assuming that it is increasingly difficult to reach the title. It is our responsibility to end the championship with the utmost dignity", he continued.
"So, the leader made a request to the supporters. "The appeal I make, not appealing for there to be no criticism, but I appeal for these criticisms to have certain limits. That is what I ask and that on Saturday we can, on and off the field, give a good image of what Benfica is", concluded the president of Benfica.
