Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has assured this Tuesday that the new German champion has no intention of letting Alejandro Grimaldo leave in the summer, when the transfer market reopens. In an interview with the Spanish newspaper AS, Rolfes praised the former Benfica player and also admitted that another goal is to keep Florian Wirtz.

"Wirtz and Grimaldo will stay. Grimaldo is a great footballer. And Wirtz is a key player, 20 years old and with a fantastic mentality. The fans like him, they love him. He has been with us for a few years and next season he will play the Champions League for his club, because last time he was injured", explained the sporting director of Bayer Leverkusen.

It is worth remembering that Bayer Leverkusen 'stole' Grimaldo from Benfica almost a year ago, taking advantage of the fact that the Spanish full-back was slow to renew his contract with the Eagles. The 28-year-old Spanish full-back has so far scored a total of 11 goals and 16 assists in 42 games played for the Leverkusen club.
