The Olympic Games will start on July 26th in Paris, but, for the Surfider Foundation, the conditions are far from being met for the safe realization of the events that involve swimming in the famous Seine river.

The French NGO has been regularly collecting samples for "more than six months" now, near the Pont de l'Alma and the Pont Alexandre III, locations that will host the triathlon, aquatic marathon and paratriathlon events, which allowed them to conclude that the pollution of the site does not guarantee safety.

"These samples allowed us to know the concentrations of E. Coli and Enterococcus, intestinal bacteria and formidable indicators of pollution of fecal origin", we can read in the statement shared through the official platforms, this Monday.

"Of these 14 samples, collected both after heavy rains and on sunny days, only one allowed our team to conclude that the quality of the Seine's water would be satisfactory, at the moment, given the location", it continues.

"It is concluded that the athletes who participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games events planned for the Seine will swim in polluted waters and will assume significant health risks", it completes.
