A dog rescued by firefighters in Buffalo, New York, has found a new home after being adopted by one of the men who saved her from the streets after she was hit by a car. Auburn’s story began when two teenagers showed up at a firehouse last month with the dog in their arms — and said they were looking for help. “I opened the door and I seen the animal and I told them to bring it in. I called my lieutenant and the rest of my crew,” Anthony Pulvino, 30, of the Buffalo Fire Department, told Fox News . The dog had been hit by a car about a block away from the firehouse, the teens said. She had no collar or tags. “She had a little road rash on her back leg, but she didn’t seem to be in too much pain. She had a lot of road rash, so we cleaned her up, cleaned the cuts,” he said. The firefighters put a pillow in a box, made the dog comfortable and eventually took her to an emergency vet. Pulvino, who had been thinking about getting a dog, said he felt an instant connection with the pup. “I left my number and said if nobody claims her, I would love to take her,” he said. A week later, Pulvino’s wish came true when he got a call from the vet asking if he wanted to adopt the dog. “It fell into my lap. I may have adopted her, but my whole crew helped save her,” said the firefighter, who added that he now brings her to the firehouse all the time, and the teens who found her have stopped by to visit. “When I walk her down the street, everybody knows her now. She’s great with kids. She’s great with other dogs. I have cats, and she’s even good with them, but they’re not too fond of her,” he said. Read Also: Female dog gives birth to litter in the US.
