A teacher has been 'caught' in a revenge plot against the principal of the school where he worked in Pikesville, in the US state of Maryland.
According to international publications, an audio recording altered with the help of Artificial Intelligence was involved. The teacher who was arrested, and released on $5,000 bail on Thursday, Dazhon Darien, is accused of theft, harassment and plotting against the school principal, Eric Eiswert.
It all started when the principal suspected that the teacher was diverting funds from the school, and even transferred $2,000 to his housemate, who he said was an assistant to the football team - but was not.
When these suspicions were raised by the principal, the 31-year-old teacher recorded an audio with racist comments about students and teachers, and also insulted the Jewish community. Then, using Artificial Intelligence tools, he changed the voice with which he recorded the audio to the principal's voice.
An investigation, which began in January, revealed that the teacher used the school's internet network to search for the tools that allowed him to change the voice of the audio, and it was also proven that he sent it to himself and to other people - which caused the audio to go viral.
The man was arrested when he was travelling to Houston, Texas, and at the airport they searched for a weapon in his luggage. The airport authorities ended up realising that there was an arrest warrant in his name and they did not let him leave the state.
The principal was even suspended due to the false comments, which caused parents to revolt, and he received death threats.
