According to information from Western intelligence services to which the German magazine had access, a meeting of senior Russian officials took place in early September 2022 to devise a strategy for the AfD.

The meeting was held at the behest of Sergey Kiriyenko, deputy chief of staff of the Russian presidential administration and responsible for operations to gain influence abroad and a close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

At that meeting, a "Manifesto" was drafted with theses on German politics that were repeated almost verbatim in an October speech that year by AfD leader in the state of Thuringia, Björn Höcke.

The "Manifesto", quoted by "Der Spiegel", pointed to an alleged deindustrialization of Germany, that 30% of Germans live close to the poverty line and the polarization within the country.

This information is published at a time when the flow of money from pro-Russian sources for the benefit of MEP Maximilian Krah and MP Petr Bystrom, both AfD candidates in the June European elections, is being discussed.

A Krah aide was also arrested on suspicion of spying for the Chinese secret service.

The names of Krah and Bystrom, the top and number two on the AfD list for the European elections, respectively, are on the list of politicians who allegedly received money from the pro-Russian portal "Voice of Europe".
