"The following precautionary measure is hereby decreed: the appointment of an ad-hoc board of directors to carry out the necessary restructuring process for the political organization Movimiento Primero Justicia", explains the STJ on its website.

The text of the decision also states that the PJ board of directors will be chaired by José Dionísio Brito and will include a deputy national coordinator, a secretary-general and a deputy secretary-general, as well as an organization secretary.

The party's leadership, appointed by the STJ, may, according to the decision, "use the electoral card, the logo, the symbols, the emblems, the colors and any other concept belonging to the political party".

Founded in 1992, Primero Justicia is a center-right party whose ideological principles are humanism, conservatism and economic liberalism.

It is led by Henrique Capriles Radonski, who has run twice for the Presidency of Venezuela and is part of the Democratic Unity Platform, the country's main opposition alliance.

According to the local press, the STJ's decision is based on a request by José Dionísio Brito on March 15, to clarify what he defined as the "legal limbo" in which the organization had been left after the previous administrative intervention.

Also according to the local press, José Dionísio Brito was expelled from the party after a report was published in the local press in 2019 linking him to alleged acts of corruption.

The Venezuelan opposition frequently accuses José Dionísio Brito of being a collaborator with Nicolás Maduro's government.

In June 2020, the STJ of Venezuela suspended for the first time the leadership of several political parties, including Primero Justicia (PJ), and ordered their restructuring.

On that occasion, the STJ also appointed a board of directors for the PJ, chaired by José Dionísio Brito, who was to "carry out the restructuring process" of the party and appoint regional, municipal and local authorities.
