Russia claimed on Tuesday to have captured the village of Bogdanivka, between Bakhmut and Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine, where it has been on the offensive in recent weeks against Ukrainian troops running low on ammunition.

"Units of the Southern grouping of troops have completely liberated the settlement of Bogdanovka in the Donetsk People's Republic," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, according to the French news agency AFP.
Bogdanivka, a small village with fewer than 100 inhabitants before the war, is less than 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Chasiv Yar, the city that the Russian army is targeting after conquering Bakhmut, further east, in the spring of 2023.
Moscow's announcement comes a day after the US House of Representatives approved $61 billion (€57.2 billion at current exchange rates) in aid to Kyiv, whose army is under pressure.
Ukrainian forces are running low on ammunition and are struggling to recruit new volunteers after more than two years of a war that has exhausted the troops.
