Éric di Meco, a former French international who represented Marseille on two separate occasions during his career (between 1980 and 1986, and between 1988 and 1994), did not hide his enthusiasm on Friday about the rumors that the club is interested in Paulo Fonseca.

Jean-Louis Gasset arrived at the Orange Vélodrome just over two months ago to succeed Gennaro Gattuso. However, not even the fact that he eliminated Benfica in the Europa League quarter-finals should save him from the 'psychological blow', so in the opinion of the former full-back, the Lille coach would be a good option.

"If he is the chosen one, I would sign with both hands, immediately. I'll even go get him in Lille, so he doesn't get lost at the airport," he began by saying, in statements made to the Gallic television station RMC Sport.

"You never know, in case you get lost and go to another club... It could happen. He knows the French championship, has already reached a high level, and has a great future," he added.
