Desporto Mercado de Transferências

Liverpool continue to scour the market for a successor to Jurgen Klopp, who will leave the Anfield Road hotseat at the end of the season. After Ruben Amorim's name was added to the Reds' shortlist, another Portuguese has emerged on the radar.

According to information revealed on Tuesday by British portal Football Transfers, the Anfield Road club have opened informal talks with Paulo Fonseca, who is in charge of Lille. The talks began at the start of the season and, by all accounts, are still ongoing.

Paulo Fonseca is greatly admired within the Reds, but the same source claims that it is not known whether the Portuguese coach is the chosen one to take over from Jurgen Klopp or just one option among many other candidates.

In addition to Lille, Paulo Fonseca, 51, has also coached clubs such as AS Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting de Braga and FC Porto.

Reports from England also indicate that Liverpool have held a meeting with Arne Slot, the current Feyenoord coach.

The newspaper The Times reveals that the 45-year-old Dutchman is the number one target to take over at the Reds, followed by Roberto de Zerbi of Brighton.
