André Villas-Boas gave an extensive interview to SIC on Monday, in which he explained his reasons for distancing himself from Pinto da Costa. The candidate for the presidency of FC Porto recalled a game between Porto and Marseille, which he was managing at the time.

"We distanced ourselves since I came to play at Dragão with Marseille, each one went their own way. I told the president that I thought it was incorrect of him not to have received me at Dragão, the conversations stopped being fluid, the relationship was never very extensive. We separated from the point of view of communication", said Villas-Boas, who recalled the process of leaving for Chelsea in 2011.

"In 2011 I had a proposal to leave and that proposal was paid for in gold, 15 million euros. It was a decision, I spoke with FC Porto about it, the CEO at the time, Antero Henrique, was aware of what was happening. We discussed the possibility of continuing. That open wound in the members has been healed for a long time, those who want change already welcome me with open arms", continued Villas-Boas.

Questioned about the feelings he has a few days before the elections, the coach says that he feels that Pinto da Costa is hiding the real situation of the club.

"Yes, he is in default, that is the information we have. There will be a fine. It reveals two factors, a president who hides the reality from the members, knows that this fine and suspension exists, but does not want to say; secondly, it will be another factor of pressure for this board, if it is elected", he concluded.
