Italian player passes out on the pitch and dies in hospital. He was 26 years old

Italian football is in mourning this Monday after the death of Mattia Giani, a 26-year-old player who felt unwell and collapsed on the pitch during the lower-tier match between Lanciotto Campi and Castelfiorentino.
The Castelfiorentino player felt unwell during the match at the Municipal Stadium in Camp Bisenzio, Florence, which was immediately interrupted. After being treated on the pitch, he was rushed to the Careggi hospital, where he died.
"I have received terrible news. Mattia did not survive," wrote the mayor of the Italian town of Castelfiorentino, Alessio Falorni, in a message shared on Facebook.
"At this moment, words fail me. It is a terrible tragedy. A heartbreaking pain. We can only send a very strong hug to his family and the club he belonged to. Rest in peace," he added.
