Sporting reacts to double 'stumble' and chases rivals Benfica and FC Porto

Sporting returned to winning ways in the national basketball championship this Saturday, defeating Esgueira 88-73 and keeping up the chase for the top of the standings with FC Porto, Benfica and Oliveirense.
The Lions closed the first quarter with an advantage (25-15) and kept it up in the second quarter (23-24), going into the half-time break with some distance from their opponents.
The truth is that the Alvalade team re-established their ten-point advantage in the third quarter (16-15) and would end up closing the match with an 88-73 final score, with a final period in which they were superior (24-19).
With this result, Sporting are now level with Benfica and Oliveirense in second place, with 34 points, with the Eagles yet to play in this round, while FC Porto are leaders with 36 points. Esgueira are 11th with 25 points.
