Premier League does not forgive Everton and takes away (more) two points

The Premier League announced, in the form of a statement issued through official platforms early Monday afternoon, that it has applied a deduction of two more points to Everton, a club that has been in its 'sights' this season.

The Toffees were found guilty of "a breach of Profitability and Sustainability Rules, in the period ending in the 2022/23 season", in the order of £16.6 million (€19.4 million), which is why they will see their score on the table 'cut' with "immediate effect".

The club of the Portuguese João Virgínia, André Gomes, Beto and Youssef Chermiti, it should be recalled, had already been punished with a ten-point penalty in November 2023, a sanction that, however, would end up being reduced to six points, after an appeal.

After the math, Everton now has 27 points, which leaves them in 16th place in the top tier of English football, with just two points ahead of Luton Town, a team that lives just below the 'waterline'.
