Ex-Manchester United defender slams lack of concern over Cole Palmer

Rio Ferdinand pointed the finger at Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire after Manchester United's 3-4 defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Thursday night. Speaking on TNT Sports, the former England defender, who made 445 appearances for the Red Devils, was left unimpressed by the lack of 'clarity' from the pair as Chelsea scored their winning goal through Cole Palmer.

"It happens to every player, even the best players, but you need somebody on the pitch who is clear-headed and points, who screams and shouts and drags people with them [to mark Cole Palmer]. Do you know what you're supposed to do in this situation? When there's a corner, a set-piece, in the last moment of the game, who are we looking for? Our best header of the ball. Go and mark him," Ferdinand said, as quoted by Football365.

"Harry Maguire was there, Bruno [Fernandes] was there. They're the leaders, they've got big characters, they're experienced. You've got to find somebody to do that. Palmer can't be in that space at that moment in the game having scored two goals and been Chelsea's best player on the pitch. That's got to be identified," the former England centre-back lamented.
