“Slim Shady made a lasting impression. Fans ‘will never forget’ the controversial rapper,” it reads.
Illustrated with a photo of the rapper wearing a hockey mask like the character Jason Voorhees from the “Friday the 13th” films, the article remembers the artist as “a Detroit product who got his start as an underdog in the city’s thriving underground rap scene in the mid-to-late 1990s.”
“Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the release of his playfully demented single ‘My Name Is,’ whose bizarre and catchy video introduced the young artist and his twisted lyrics to a wider audience,” the piece continues.

The obit also notes that “the very things that seemed to fuel him became calling cards that defined an existence that could only end in a sudden, spectacular demise.”
“His tortured, complex existence has come to an end, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to being solved than the way in which he left this world. May he find the peace in the afterlife that he couldn’t find on Earth,” it concludes.
Eminem announced the new project during the NFL Draft in April, via a mockumentary-style video that featured a cameo from rapper 50 Cent. Eminem himself appears at the end, suggesting that it was only a “matter of time” before Slim Shady died.
