The Left wants to "prevent temptations of setbacks on the part of the Right"

The leader of the Left Bloc (BE), Mariana Mortágua, revealed on Tuesday that one of the main conclusions of the meetings with all the left-wing parties, which ended today, "is to prevent constitutional setbacks".
"Faced with the instability that the right-wing majority brings and perpetuates in the country, we wanted to open a path, a field of dialogue with the left-wing parties, ecological parties, with the parties that oppose this right-wing government. And this path of dialogue has a concrete translation, in the desire to prevent temptations on the part of the right-wing for constitutional or fundamental setbacks that attack the Portuguese population, the rights of minorities and that show us a future that we do not want and that the Portuguese population does not want", said the BE deputy.
According to Mariana Mortágua, the left-wing parties are not "willing to give up the path that has been taken so far".
Secondly, explained the BE coordinator, the meetings demonstrated "a desire for this April 25th to be a moment of enormous popular mobilization and for all parties to contribute to this mobilization within their political and partisan field, but that they can join forces, uniting on Avenida da Liberdade, uniting on all the avenues throughout this country, where April 25th is celebrated, so that this can be a moment of celebration of democracy".
The meetings also resulted in "the desire and availability for an articulation between parliamentary leaderships, between political leaderships, between the various parties to coordinate their activity, first and foremost in the opposition in Parliament, but also in the future".
"This capacity for dialogue, respecting the autonomy, the differences between parties, is what makes the opposition stronger", Mortágua also assured.
