These were some of the positions taken by the deputy of the Free Party Paulo Muacho, after being received by the Minister of Justice, Rita Júdice, within the scope of the Government's parliamentary hearings with the parties for the adoption of measures to combat corruption within 60 days.

"It is in the prevention of corruption that we must put the emphasis. Eventually, we can concentrate entities into a single one that is responsible for the prevention of corruption in Portugal. We also want more transparency and to make the opinions of the Commission for Access to Administrative Documents binding", he declared.

To the journalists, Paulo Muacho mentioned that the Government showed openness in relation to some of the Free Party's proposals.

Among other measures, he advocated a reinforcement of the means to fight corruption, namely through the creation of specialized sections to combat economic-financial criminality and corruption, as well as "the increase in the transparency of the functioning of the Government itself".

"Greater transparency is needed in relation to the Government's legislative footprint in what concerns the entities it meets with and that have influence in the legislative process", he said.

On the matter of regulating 'lobbying', the deputy of the Free Party mentioned that this issue "has been relatively transversal among different political forces".

"We showed total availability [to the Government] to continue discussing these issues and to deepen the work. We are available to discuss with all the parties that want to discuss them in a serious manner, without demagogy and populism, attacking a real problem in Portugal", he added.

In the first part of this round of hearings, which began on Friday and which is taking place in the Assembly of the Republic, the Minister of Justice received the PAN, the PSD, the PS and the Chega.
