"It is not enough to point the finger and produce easy criticism, we want to offer more, a perspective of hope for the new generations. And as for hope, allow me to tell you: the young and the Portuguese in general have gained a new hope with the return of the CDS to the Assembly of the Republic", he considered.

Francisco Camacho was speaking at the 31st Congress of the CDS-PP, which is taking place today and Sunday, in Viseu, in the presentation speech of his global strategic motion entitled "Ensuring the Future".

In his speech, Camacho argued that "it was in the hardest moments, in the moments of greatest lack of hope" that the JP and the CDS showed "their fibre".

"We cannot make the mistake of seeing the return of the CDS to Parliament as the end of a battle, but rather as the beginning of a new phase of dedicated and tireless work. In fact, with each victory, we have the obligation to defend the position we have conquered. Because nothing is definitive", he warned.

The leader of the centrist party youth expressed his willingness to help the two members of parliament -- Paulo Núncio and João Almeida -- through working groups.

In his speech, the leader expressed concern about areas such as the birth rate, the eradication of poverty, housing, education and security, and the flight of young people abroad.

"Four years ago, we broke with the prejudice that housing policies could only be built on the left, we made our way and today a large part of them are included in the Government's programme", he stressed.

For the leader of the JP, "ensuring the future must respond to the birth rate and the family".

"We do not need anyone to explain or impose their social vision on us, but neither should we allow others to deny a way of being and living in a family", he defended.

Camacho ended his speech with an appeal.

"If the present is guaranteed, it is up to each one of us in this room to ensure the future of the CDS-PP. We do not ask for it, a few days before the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, for those who, with great courage, founded the party under fire, nor for those who refounded it in the 1990s. We ask instead for a CDS-PP that ensures a future for my generation and for the generation of my daughter who is to come", he concluded.
