The family of "Uncle Paulo" and the niece who took the lifeless elderly man to the bank in Rio de Janeiro for a loan of 17 thousand reais (about 3 thousand euros), clarified that the same had already been requested by the man in March and that it would be used for works in the space where he stayed.

The elderly man, 68 years old, could not climb the stairs, as the niece's defense claims, as reported by Fantástico, from TV Globo, on Sunday. Thus, he spent the day in the garage, but the space was not in great condition and needed work.

The images shown in the report show an improvised room, with unplastered walls, a bed, a toilet, a small shelf, and a plastic table.

The case, which had a great repercussion last week, now takes on new contours. In the interview with TV Globo, the siblings and children of Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, 42, explain that the loan had already been requested weeks before the incident, on March 25, by her uncle, Paulo Roberto Braga.

On April 15, Erika went with her uncle to the shopping center where the bank branch is located. There she was reportedly informed that she would have to withdraw the money from another branch of the bank. Video surveillance footage shows that Paulo was still communicating that day.

On the afternoon of April 16, Erika took her uncle to the bank to finally withdraw the amount, but her uncle was already dead.

It is recalled that, according to the testimony of the TVDE drivers who took them to the place, Paulo was alive and held the door of the vehicle when he left.

The case is shocking Brazil and the international community, after a video showing the woman trying to 'withdraw' the money from the bank went viral on social media. According to the Brazilian press, the bank employees found the whole situation very strange, since the man could not hold his head up or move, and Erika was trying to convince him to sign a document.
