Do you reach for your phone when you just can't fall asleep? It's time to rethink that habit and start adopting other, healthier ones that will help you drift off. For example, non-profit organization The Sleep Foundation recommends a very simple relaxation exercise.
It's called progressive muscle relaxation, which "uses breathing techniques combined with tensing and releasing muscle groups to relieve tension in the body." Want to give it a try?

Lie down in bed, close your eyes, and start taking deep breaths. Try tensing the muscles in your face for 10 seconds. Release the tension and take several deep breaths.
Next, tense the muscles in your shoulders for 10 seconds, and once again release. Inhale and exhale. Continue going through these motions with other muscle groups all the way down your body to your feet. Avoid doing this with any areas of your body that are injured or sore.
