Many people find the prospect of caring for an orchid (almost) impossible. However, it is made significantly easier when you seek advice from an expert in the field. Need some help? Craig Morley, a plant expert featured in Woman & Home, has cleared up some confusion surrounding how often you should water the plant.
According to the expert, "how often you need to water your orchid will vary depending on the environment it is growing in".
Generally speaking, "factors that can affect this include the temperature of your home, the amount of light the plant is getting, the potting mix the orchid is in and the pot the plant is in".

With this in mind, he advises that you try to "water your orchid every seven to eleven days, or whenever you notice that the potting mix is dry", but of course, "be careful not to overwater the plant", which is a common pitfall and can cause the roots to rot.
Ideally, "the potting mix should be thoroughly moistened after watering" and should be dry to the touch before you water it again.
