"There is a close link between our cardiovascular system and the functioning of organs and tissues involving the auditory system," says a statement from Widex. This is because "our inner ear is a region with many blood vessels and, for this reason, it benefits from habits that favor the circulation of blood in the body".

Fernando Torres, audiologist at Widex, emphasizes that, "in a continent where approximately 196 million individuals live with hearing loss, our mission as audiologists is to offer innovative solutions to improve hearing and, in this way, contribute to the quality of life of those with hearing loss". "We believe that life is to be heard in its fullness, and we work every day to ensure that everyone can appreciate the world of sounds, whether when practicing their favorite sports or when carrying out other activities in their daily lives".

With this in mind, Widex shared in the same press release some essential care to follow to protect your hearing during sports:

1- Use ear protectors in water sports

In activities in water, the noise of the environment is amplified, which can damage the health of your ears. If swimming or surfing are part of your life, it is crucial to use ear protectors whenever you practice these sports. Consult an audiologist to guide you in choosing the most suitable ear protectors for your case.

2- Adjust the volume of the earphones or headphones

If you like to run, or train, while listening to music, it is recommended to adjust the volume of your audio devices to a safe level. Sometimes, to abstract yourself from the noise of the environment, we tend to increase the volume of the sound to compensate, which can be harmful to hearing.

3- Be aware of music in closed environments

In gyms, music is often played at high volumes, so it is recommended to use ear protectors, or to reduce the exposure time to that environment.

4- Take regular breaks

During high-intensity exercise, it is advisable to take regular breaks to rest your ears and avoid continuous exposure to loud noises.
