Jorge Castelo knows what it's like to sit on the Benfica bench, since he was at the service of the Luz emblem between 1987 and 1998, but he ended up targeting the controversial words of Roger Schmidt, especially when asking the fans who criticize the team to stay home. Even so, he did not fail to consider that the incarnated fans went too far in the protests in Faro.

"Certain types of demonstrations cannot be accepted, but it is necessary to understand why the fans are demonstrating. If you ask me who started this situation, I would say that Roger Schmidt does not know the Benfica fans, because when he says that whoever 'loves football, loves Benfica', then that phrase should prevail for everything around the club. Saying that he only wants fans who clap in the stadium and those who whistle to stay home was very unfortunate", he began by saying about the matter, in statements to the newspaper A Bola.

"Game with Sporting de Braga? There may be a part that will react negatively right at the start. In case of victory, the situation may ease. Benfica members like to demonstrate when they don't like the football they are watching and now any match makes the dynamite explode", he stressed next.

It is recalled that Jorge Castelo started out as an observer for the eagles and became assistant coach in the fourth season at Luz, in 1990, remaining in the position until 1998.
