Liverpool may have said goodbye, once and for all, to the race for the English league title, as a result of the defeat suffered in the visit to Everton, by 2-0, in a match in which Darwin Núñez was in evidence... for the negative.
The Uruguayan international had a clear opportunity to score, in the Merseyside derby, at Goodison Park, before the half-time whistle, but shot at Jordan Pickford's figure, leading to the reappearance of the discussion about the high investment that motivated, less than two years ago.
This Friday, the British newspaper The Times reveals that, at the time, the priority of the reds structure was... Christopher Nkunku, who would later end up swapping Leipzig for Chelsea, for 60 million euros.
However, the publication adds, it was only at the insistence of the coach, Jurgen Klopp, that the club opted to 'forget' the Frenchman, and instead pay Benfica an initial sum of 75 million euros for the forward's pass.
