Romário enjoys the limelight and continues to garner plenty of media interest at 58 years old. The protagonist of the 1994 World Cup, at 58, is still trying to fulfill one more dream in football and is close to achieving it. This Thursday, he held his first training session as a player and president of América-RJ. The goal is to play alongside his son Romarinho.

"Regarding the training, I'm f*cking tired. The stretcher is coming to get me soon, for someone who hasn't trained in 16 years. I believe that, overall, I was even able to run a little. And the idea is that we'll talk from now on. I want to make one thing very clear to everyone. I'm not going to play in the championship. The idea is to play a few minutes of some matches. Also because the most important thing for América in this competition is the technical issue," said Romário, in statements quoted by Globo Esporte.

"My goal here, the biggest of all, is to have the opportunity to play with my son. I've heard, I read about it, not only in football, many athletes have this goal. I was reading today, including Lebron James, with this possibility of playing with his son next year. Rivaldo already had this possibility, very few had it and many wanted it. And I'm going to have this opportunity," completed the controversial forward.

Elected president at the end of 2023, Romário started the project to put América-RJ, his beloved team, back in the elite of Brazilian football.
