Coach Gabriele Cioffi has been dismissed from the technical command of Udinese, at a time when the team is fighting to stay in the Italian football league, announced today the emblem where the Portuguese João Ferreira plays.

In a statement, Udinese announced the departure of Cioffi, 48, who had already replaced Andrea Sottil at the helm of the team this season, having recorded only four wins in 24 games.

This was Cioffi's second stint at the club, having also been head coach in 2021/22.

With six games to go, Udinese are 17th in Serie A, with 28 points, the same as Frosinone, 18th and already in the relegation zone.

The next match for the Udine team will be on Sunday, at the home of Bologna, fourth in the standings.

The local press has reported that former Italian international Fabio Cannavaro is the favourite to succeed Cioffi.
