Paulo Fonseca regrets the European elimination: "We deserved to go through"
Lille, managed by the Portuguese coach, lost to Aston Villa on penalties and said goodbye to the Conference League.

Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca was one step away from qualifying Lille for the semi-finals of the Conference League on Thursday night, but ended up falling on penalties to Aston Villa (4-3), in France.
After the match, the Portuguese coach was resigned to the elimination, but stressed that his team deserved to have gone through in the competition.
"I am very proud of what the team did. We played two great games. Everyone agrees with me when I say that we deserved to go through, but football is like that. They were better on penalties and we have to accept it. I think we had a magnificent Conference League", began by saying the Portuguese coach of Lille.
"It is not easy to do what we did against a team like Aston Villa. We waited for the right moments to put pressure on them, but unfortunately it all ended. Now I just want to get home quickly and start thinking quickly about the next game for the French league, which will be against Strasbourg. It will probably be an even more important game than this one", he concluded.
