Portugal beat Malta and take another step towards Euro'2025

The main Portuguese women's football team took another step towards qualifying for the 2025 European Championship in the late afternoon, when they visited and defeated their Maltese counterparts at the Centenary Stadium in Ta' Qali, 2-0.

After a rather 'uninspired' first half, the Navigators returned from the locker rooms 'full throttle', and just two minutes later, they took the lead on the scoreboard, through Carole Costa, who managed to beat Janice Xuereb, by converting a penalty kick.

The 'final blow' would end up coming in the 77th minute. Tatiana Pinto launched Jéssica Silva, on the attack, who crossed low into the heart of the penalty area, where Ana Capeta appeared, deflecting it into the back of the net.

With this victory, Portugal now has six points and is once again isolated in the lead of Group 3 of League B, with a two-point advantage over Northern Ireland. Malta is third, with one point, and Bosnia and Herzegovina fourth, with 'zero'.
