"SC Braga expresses its deep sorrow for the death of José Maria Azevedo, a former emblematic player of the club between the seasons of 1955 to 1971 and winner of the Portuguese Cup in 1966, addressing the family and friends with the most heartfelt condolences", says the club.

In the same note, the bracarenses remember that the right-back is still the player with the most games played for Sporting de Braga, a total of 409 and the only one who also surpassed the 400 mark, in a career fully completed in the 'arsenalistas', between 1955 and 1969.

José Maria Azevedo's funeral ceremonies are scheduled for Tuesday, from 10:30 am, at the Church of São Lázaro, in Braga.
